On January 11, 2026, we shared social media posts that called out and highlighted members of Brett Smiley’s administration and staff who publicly bragged on LinkedIn about the administration’s handling of the December 13, 2025, shooting at Brown University. These included Brett Smiley, Emily Crowell, Josh Estrella, and potentially others. Some staff members were also observed to have deleted negative responses.
Notably, the local community’s response has been overwhelmingly critical due to the administration’s lack of communication and direction during the event.
